Rolfing After a Car Accident

FAQs about Rolfing for MVA Recovery
If you’ve been in a car accident and are wondering whether Rolfing® can help—you’re in the right place.
At Horan Rolfing and Holistic Health, I specialize in helping people recover from the soft-tissue injuries that often follow a motor vehicle accident (commonly called an MVA). I can see you either at my Bellevue Rolfing or Tacoma Rolfing practice – whichever is more convenient to you.
Rolfing® Structural Integration can safely and effectively support your body’s healing process.
The sooner you begin, the sooner your body can start to restore balance and function.
Can Rolfing® help me recover after a car accident?
Absolutely. Rolfing® works to release tension, realign the body, and restore natural movement patterns disrupted by trauma.
It’s especially effective for issues like whiplash, headaches, shoulder or neck pain, joint stiffness, and back pain—all common after car accidents.
Our goal is to help your body recover faster, reduce pain, and prevent long-term imbalances from taking hold.
Is Rolfing® too intense to receive right after an injury?
Not at all. Rolfing® is not about deep or painful pressure—it’s about precision, sensitivity, and skill.
Your Rolfer™ meets your body exactly where it is. Sessions are gentle and adaptable, even for those recovering from fresh injuries.
Each session respects your body’s readiness—never forcing or “bullying” the tissue.
Will my insurance cover Rolfing® after a car accident?
While “Rolfing®” is a trademarked name, the techniques I use are billed under soft-tissue therapy codes. If you have an MVA claim, my work is typically completely covered. To process the billing with your insurance company, I will need a prescription from any type of physician:
- medical doctor
- osteopath
- nurse practitioner
- physician’s assistant
- naturopath
- chiropractor
I will bill your insurance company directly, so please provide your claim number, as well as your agent’s name and phone number.
In Washington State, all auto insurance policies include Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which typically covers $10,000–$15,000 in medical care for accident-related injuries—regardless of who was at fault. That means your Rolfing® sessions can often be billed directly to your auto insurance.
Do I have to commit to the full Rolfing Ten-Series™?
No. While the Rolfing Ten-Series™ is a powerful and comprehensive program, it’s not required as part of your treatment for recovery after a car accident.
Your sessions can be customized to focus on your most immediate needs—such as reducing pain, improving range of motion, and rebalancing your structure.
Also, if you’ve had surgery, Rolfing® can support post-operative healing (for soft-tissue work).
When should I start Rolfing® after an accident?
Don’t delay care. The longer you wait, the more chance you have of injured tissues snowballing into self-reinforcing pain cycles. That’s how unhealthy compensation patterns form (walking differently, not turning your head or using your neck properly). Early intervention means faster recovery, less pain, and better long-term outcomes. If you’re ready for soft tissue work, let’s get started!
What other therapies could support my recovery?
At Horan Rolfing & Holistic Health, I take a whole-body approach to healing. Along with Rolfing®, I offer nutritional guidance to reduce inflammation and support tissue repair
Together, Rolfing and Functional Nutrition help accelerate healing and restore balance throughout the body.
